From FY23 BARC will be charging broadcasters and advertisers. According to BARC,  Broadcasters will be required to pay Rs 18 lakh per channel per annum or 0.8% of net TV advertising billing.

UAE’s T20 Leagues have recently announced the long-term global media rights contract with the global entertainment and media powerhouse ZEE. The League will be aired exclusively on the linear channels of ZEE and its OTT streaming platform ZEE5, in India as well as globally. 

The Bangalore police has registered an FIR (first information report) against various digital platforms that have been indulging in content piracy. The FIR has been registered against Tamilblasters, TamilMV, Tamilrockers, as well as a third party app Pikashow TV, on the basis of a complaint filed by Disney Star. 

Search engine giant Google has extended its audiences to CTV devices in order to get more CTV inventory in its demand-side platform. Google thinks that this will help brands to reach their correct audience because they will watch top streaming content.

Google, the tech giant has signed deals with 80 more media partners which will be representing over 130 publications for Google News Showcase, an online news experience programme which was launched last year and has completed 1 year. 

As per the EY FICCI M&E report 2022, news subscriptions will reach around Rs 90 Cr due to the increase in marketing focus by HT Media, The Hindu, BCCL and The Ken among others. 

RAM Ratings Week 13’22 – Week 16’22: Fever FM tops chart in Mumbai, and Delhi again. Radio Mirchi and Big FM have maintained top positions in Kolkata and Bangalore respectively.

BARC’s top 5 advertisers of week 20 (14th May – 20th May 2022)  are – Hindustan Lever Ltd, Reckitt Benckiser (India) Ltd, Procter & Gamble, Godrej Group, Cadburys India Ltd..

According to BARC weekly data, the following were the top 5 paid TV channels in week 19 (14th May – 20th May 2022) – Paid–  Sun TV, Star Maa, Star Plus, Star Sports 1 Hindi,  Goldmines.
