BARC will postpone resumption of the release of TRP ratings for channels in the news genre, as per PTI. Earlier BARC had announced that the viewership data for news channels will resume from Mar 17 2022. As per the new methodology, data for special interest and news channels will be based on a 4-week rolling average.

BARC has published the updated policy for language and genre classification of television channels. According to the new guidelines, the classification will be reviewed on a quarterly basis based on the previous 13 weeks data. The updated policy will provide transparent and standard rules to define the language and genre of all the channels. 

Pitch Madison Advertising Report has predicted that digital advertising will witness a 32% growth in its AdEx share in 2022, 96% of this spend will be commanded by mobile. Mobile advertising is also estimated to dominate the gaming market. 

India Today has partnered with Amazon Alexa to bring to viewers the ground zero report of the UP 2022 elections. The three episode show “Trigger Point” will be hosted by Preeti Chaudhary and will also be a good opportunity for brands to get mass reach. 

Google Play Pass has been launched in India, which is an app subscription service that will provide access to games and apps without ads. The subscription is available for Rs 99/month or Rs 889/year. Users may even avail a prepaid subscription for one month for Rs 109. 

According to the Red Lab Report, in 2021, 75% of shoppers purchased from brands that are new in the market. The report also disclosed that 15% of every day searches came from new user segments across all categories. 

The video streaming giant YouTube has a big socio-economic effect in India. As per Analysis by Oxford Economics, the creative economy of YouTube has contributed Rs 6,800 Cr to the Indian economy and supported almost 6,83,900 jobs in 2020. (Source:E4M)
