  1. BCCI to add two new teams in IPL 2022, which will result in increased number of matches and number of days. 
  1. Ad volume on TV in the news genre saw an increase of 9% during 16th Oct- 19th Dec while compared with the previous 2 months. Also, it adds more 400 + advertisers during the same duration. 
  1. POKKT released a new report “Impact of COVID on Mobile Gaming” which focuses on the COVID impact on the overall mobile gaming industry in India. According to the report: 
  • The avg daily sessions time has increased to 45-55 mins in April’20 compared to 30 mins per session in pre-covid times. 
  • The number of monthly active users in April saw an increase of 10% against 7% in pre-COVID times. 
  • The gaming industry witnessed a jump of 14% in ad requests in April 11% compared to the pre-COVID times. 
  1. UFO Moviez enters into film distribution with an aim to be a one-stop pan India film distributor. 
  1. Vodafone Idea (Vi) has cracked a deal with story publishing platform Firework, gaining access to the platform’s content for its subscribers.
  1. Discovery and native advertising platform Taboola recently released Taboola Readership Study Insights. The study was focused on the most read topics by Indian digital readers between Jan 1, 2020 and Dec 1, 2020.

Some of the key takeaways from the report are:

  • Enterta inment (Movies & TV) was the top read topic with 20% online readers.
  • Consumer Electronics content (Apple, Samsung and One Plus etc) was the 2nd most consumed topic with 15% readers.
  • Investment and Banking came next with 15% readers
  • Covid-19 & other disease related news, Cricket, Indo-China relations & Sushant Singh Rajput’s death were read by 14%, 13%, 12% and 11% online readers respectively. 
  1. Indian Social Networking App ShareChat unveiled its 2020 year-end UGC Trends Report that highlights the most popular content topics shared by its 160 million MAU community. Some of the takeaways include
  • ShareChat users generated over 750 million content pieces which were shared 24 billion times on WhatsApp- Hindi and Tamil users contributed 26% and 24% of the WhatsApp shares respectively. 
  • Average time spent daily increased from 24 minutes pre-lockdown to 31 minutes post-lockdown.
  • The Video:Image split in content changed from 6:4 during lockdown to 7:3 post lockdown. Over 700 million hours of video content was consumed during the year.
  • Following cities contribute the most number of ShareChat users: Bengaluru Urban, Pune and Ranga Reddy
  1. Fever FM has emerged as the top radio station in terms of listenership share in Mumbai and Delhi for week 43-46. Radio City and Radio Mirchi were the top stations in Bangalore and Kolkata respectively: RAM Ratings.

  1. According to BARC weekly data, the following were the top 5 free and pay-TV channels in week 50th (12-18 Dec)- 
  • Pay–   Sun TV, STAR Plus, STAR Maa, STAR Vijay, Colors. 
  • Free– Star Utsav, Zee Anmol, Sony Pal. Dhinchaak, Colors Rishtey
