Headlines: Top Media Ad News in India for the Week (1st Feb- 7th Feb)

  1. Exchange4Media and Dentsu have released the fifth edition of their annual report on digital advertising titled ‘Digital Advertising in India 2021’. The data showed that the digital advertising industry has grown by 15.3% by the end of 2020, and is expected to grow at 20% to reach a market size of Rs. 18,938 crore by 2021.
  1. According to the report on retail advertising by TAM Media Research for 2020, Jewellery stores were the largest among retail advertisers contributing 60% to the total ad volume for the sector on television. 
  1. SonyLIV has introduced the WWE Network pack, curated specially for WWE fans which will provide users with more than 10,000 hours of content comprising exclusive videos from the WWE archives as well as previous episodes.
  1. SLING TV has expanded its South Asian content with the addition of Voot, the subscription video-on-demand (SVOD) platform owned by Viacom18, a Joint Venture between Network18 &ViacomCBS in India.
  1. According to App Annie’s Top Publisher Awards 2021, Times Group, Reliance Industries, and Bharti Airtel are the top India headquartered app publishers. The list also includes ShareChat, National Informatics Centre, Appyhigh, Dailyhunt, Inshorts, Yuvadvance, and One97.
  1. According to BARC India’s weekly data, TV Ad volumes saw an overall 23 percent increase in January 2021. The data is based on the observations from January week 1 to week 4.
  1. BARC top 5 advertisers of the week 4 (23rd Jan- 29th Jan 2021) are – Hindustan Lever LTD, Reckitt Benckiser, Ponds India, Brooke Bond Lipton India LTD, and Proctor and Gamble.
  1. According to BARC weekly data, the following were the top 5 free and paid TV channels in week 4 (23rd-29th Jan 2021) – 
  • Pay–  Sun TV, STAR Plus, STAR Maa, Colors, STAR Vijay. 
  • Free– Star Utsav, Zee Anmol, Sony Pal, Colors Rishtey, Dhinchaak.
