Headlines: Top Media Ad News in India for the Week (15-21st Dec)

  1. The car transportation category in India saw an increase of 74% in unique visitors between April’20-Oct’20, yet the reach is still down by 40% compared to Jan’20- Comscore. 
  1. Boston Consulting Group (BCG) and Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) has released a report “Lights, Camera, Action…and the Show Goes On” on the impact on Media and Entertainment industry in 2020. According to the report: 
  • TV consumption surged by almost 40% during the lockdown.
  • Video consumption on smartphones has witnessed a 50%-60% increase in subscribers over the last year. 
  • The share of digital advertising has reached 15% in 2020 and will continue to grow more. 
  1. MMA in association with GroupM released a report “Modern Marketer Reckoner”, for businesses and the ecosystem situation in 2020. According to which: 
  • 34% of businesses have increased digital media budget in 2020. 
  • Among the digital-first timers – 45% streamed movies, 43% got WFH software, 33% used an e-learning app, 28% purchased groceries online and 22% consulted a doctor online.
  1. The advertising volume on the regional language channels on TV has grown by 21% during this festive period- Aug-Dec’20 as compared to last year- TAM AdEx. 
  1. ClanConnect.ai launched a new study based on the top 1000 Instagram influencers in India. A few key highlights: 
  • The majority of the top 1k influencers in India are women. 
  • Food influencers garner the highest quality engagement of 88%. 
  • Quality engagement received by Education, finance, and career influencers is 85% altogether. 
  1. Fever FM has emerged as the top radio station in terms of listenership share in Mumbai and Delhi for week 42-45. Radio City and Radio Mirchi were the top stations in Bangalore and Kolkata respectively: RAM Ratings.
